Devilish Denim...

I struggle with jeans. There, I said it!

Or rather, my ample rear struggles with jeans.

These size 20 jeans from Simply Be look good in many respects, but when it get to the back, it just gapes. Gapes so much that no amount of belts, or pulling up will make them work!

I love the colour of these (pardon the mustard top, I know that that does not go with the green!) , but I know that by sizing up to a 22, the gape will still be there, but the fit will also be off elsewhere.

I had bought this colour specifically to go with this top:

But after a recent bra fitting, the top sat halfway down my bra - meaning no WAY was it suitable without constant pulling / adjustment. So it is now sitting on eBay in a size 20

Still I have my black skinny jeans to rely on, and I think the reason that they work, is because of the completely elasticated waist - but it is not as if I'm showing that detail off to the world, so I think it works! Hey, it's comfortable AND they fit. What more can a girl ask for!

Are jeans an hourglass problem, or a general plus size problem?

Much love my lovelies,

K x

  1. Oh, I hear you on the gaping issue! My top/waist are at least a good size smaller than my hips/legs, so pants are always gaping like crazy at the waist. So frustrating! I have a few pairs of jeans in my closet that I need to alter a bit, if I can at all. :(

    1. My waist is 43, my hips 53. So I know I have odd proportions but still, would like some kind of jean to sort out my rear issues!!

  2. I often have to have to back of the waist taken in on my pants. Other than that, I've taken to wearing skirts and dresses more often because they're just more comfortable!

    1. I'm all about the dresses and the skirts, but sometimes I just wish I had other options! Like wearing them under 'dresses' that barely cover my bum!

    2. Yep, I have that problem too! Being 5'8" is fine most of the time, except when short dresses are in style which means they're even shorter on me. I just don't have the legs to pull them, nor the desire to show off what's under my dress when the wind blows.

I also just realized I should have said "jeans" or "trousers". Silly American English! ;)
