Suits You - Sally-Anne

After having such fun working on Suits You last month, I'm super excited to style the gorgeous Sally-Anne

I've had a bit of a stalk of her recent outfit posts, and spotted that she's another floral loving gal. From jumpsuits to swing dresses, crop tops to bubble hems, she seems fearless in trying whatever takes her fancy!

So, I went with what I know, and that is office chic! (Ha, I hope anyway!)

One great thing about this challenge is that price is no object!

£157 for the whole outfit doesn't seem that excessive, especially as these are separates that I'd love to rock on their own as well as together!

The Magnificent 7th: Date Night

The theme for this month's Magnificent 7th is closely tied into the thing that happens on the 14 February. I've never celebrated, or taken part in  this tradition, so it doesn't hold much meaning for me. But yes, the theme for this month is Date Night.

A little bit awkward for the single lass sat behind the computer right now, but hey, okay!

I generally try to go for comfortable. I don't want to spend the whole date pulling my skirt down, or top up, or be conscious of any other aspect of my outfit!

I usually go for the dress and cardi combo:

Ideal for a warm date, but at this time of year I just might want something a little more warming!

So, should I have a date tomorrow, shopping in Newcastle, I would possibly consider this:

To be worn with brogues, and my leather jacket for warmth!

And actually, that has just given me a great idea for what to wear to a date, shopping in Newcastle, tomorrow! ;)

If you've forgotten, The Magnificent 7th is a fashion challenge, which will be posting on the 7th of each month (hence our name!), and the aim of the challenge is to create an outfit to fit a theme or a topic, ONLY using clothes & accessories from our wardrobes, and yes that does mean digging deep into the depths and finding those long lost clothes! Hopefully one of us won't end up in Narnia, but you never know with my wardrobe!

Short, Tall and In Between...

I was chair dancing away to Short Fat F**ny (I know what Google searches are like...) and I had a bolt of inspiration...

I'd put together a crack pot team of different sizes (about 5 sounded a good number), and we could review petite, standard and tall ranges!

So the hunt was on for my team!

To join me in the world of 'tall', I enlisted the beautiful Em, from @thesmyth, and blogs here.

For my petite beauty, I coerced the bombshell that is Sera, from @sera_McDaid, the pint sized fashionista.

I thought I'd go for 2 'standard' ladies, but there is nothing standard about these two:

The young'un that is Meg, gorgeous @theclosetofmeg, who's 'closet' I would happily get into here!

Last but certainly not least, the wonderfully outspoken and opinionated and beautiful Leah, from @justmeleah_blog, who you can see writes from the heart here.

Now you know the background, what is actually going on here?

Well, I sent over my proposal to the team at Simply Be, and offered to review any of these:

When we were all sent this dress, we were impressed by the print, and rather excited to see how it turns out!

The print really is a perfect winter floral mix!

The sleeve option is a lovely touch, with the option to roll up, and then attach them at the elbow, or have them down for the added winter warmth!

The material is a thin cotton, so it would be perfect with a slouchy cardigan or body warmer on over the top if you were a little on the cool side!!

I ordered the 20 Tall - and was a little apprehensive about the button detail from the neckline to the waist - I'm rather tired of being on button watch to see if any had popped open! But if I'd sized up to the 22, the overall dress would not have been as good a fit. As you can see from the pictures, the gaping is minimal anyway.

Now then, THE LENGTH!

I stand at 5'10, and while I don't mind the odd dress that looks like this:

I am more than happy that this dress sits here:

This photo was taken after a wash, and yes, there was little bit of length lost in shrinkage, but it is still 'respectable' as my Mam would call it!!

It is however, a little low cut - so be aware of that if you're of the busty persuasion!!

I've worn this twice now, and kept it simple - the tie back on the dress does enough to define me in my opinion - and I added the Owl necklace I picked up from Turkey.

Go and check out how this dress works on the rest of the Short, Tall and In Between ladies:

Shapes and conformity

When I started this little blog of mine, I struggled with finding clothes that 'flattered' me. My focus was on well fitting, flattering clothes. I then shifted over to more fashion forward looks, and the fit idea was something I was willing to be sacrificed in order for 'fast fashion'. I am young (ish), it was my peroragitve!!

I have now moved further along my journey, and I wear what I want, how I want. My opinion is if it offends anyone, that is their problem, not mine.

When I was emailed a few months back, offering a shape analysing service, I was bored and thought: "Why not!"

I popped over to Marisota's shape website, and found it was more than a shape analyser, it was an insight into body perception.

I was only one shape off with my body perception v body reality. This wasn't too ground breaking for me, but my interest was piqued.

Shape wise, I am a clear hourglass.

Or so I thought.

See, hour glass.

But, after outting in my vital statistics, I faced with a surprising fact.

I am pear. I was shocked. I was stunned.

I had hidden behind the idea that I was an hourglass since I had started my blog. Before even.

It has taken til now for me to put my thoughts about this change on the screen.

Has it changed how I dress? No, not really - I wear more trousers maybe, but other than that, it hasn't had much impact. I still rock a belt. I still have my boobs out. But I actually agree. I am a pear.

A busty pear, with some hour glass delusions, but definitely pear.

But this is where shape 'ology' becomes a little muddy. For some people, starting their fat acceptance journey, a nice detour into a flattering world, but a world of DO wear this and DON'T wear that, and hide this, highlight that. Some people come out of the other side of this detour, and carry on with the notion of wearing what they want. But some don't, some stay entrenched in it.

I don't want to hide any part of my fat body, not my tummy, or my arse or my chest. It is all me. It tells a story. And so does yours.

Wear what you want to, how you want to. No one has a right to judge you for that, other than yourself.

Much love my gorgeous lovelies,

K x
