Versatile Skirt...

Sometimes a person needs a 'go to' outfit, a dress that makes them feel amazing, or a combination that looks  put together and thought out, that they can pull out at a moments notice. As part of their bag of tricks, if you like.

For a long time it has been dresses for me, but lately I've been drawn to this skirt. It is stylishly different, along with easy to style - throw on a tee shirt or a plain top, and viola, a new outfit!

A baggy tee shirt, or a shirt that is just too short for trousers have been given new life by being able to tuck them into this skirt, add my belt, and voila! Sorted!

This top is a little bit different though - I ordered a 20, and it arrived in an 18. I thought I would just give it a go (shy bairns get nowt, as my Grandma always says!). Now, I'll be honest, it looks okay, but felt rather uncomfortable. The lovely people at Collectif have agreed to exchange for a 20.

Do you have a go-to outfit, combination, item of clothing?

I love how much I'm challenging myself with combinations and colours.

Much love my lovelies,

Hearts and Hourglasses

When the latest Lady Vintage London prints were released on Facebook I was drawn to the heart print dress. I loved the youthful feeling of the print, the candy colours, as well as the the fact that behind the hearts, was the most delightful red and blue flower pattern. I was hooked!

So when the lovely Vickie asked me to choose one of the above dresses, I was quick to plump for my gut, and go for the heart print dress. I wasn't disappointed!

These photos were taken as soon as the dress had arrived! My twitter feed LOVED the dress, and it didn't take me long to decide that I would be wearing this to Plus North.

I was planning to keep the writing of this post for later, closer to the event, but as the sizes are selling out fast, and because I am so excited about the dress and the event, I got myself all dolled up this morning (and dyed my hair!).

Now, hang on, I know you're wondering how my photos taken in the bathroom mirror are going to be better than the ones I've put above... well, I went and got me a tripod!!

I know the poses need some work, but:

And here we go - an out-take photo!!

I love this brand, and their swing dresses. I have talked about them in a number of posts:

And if I have any money left after Plus North, I'm sure I'll be adding either that green dress or the blue ditsy print to my collection!!

This dress was gifted to me, but all views and opinions are my very own and I have not been paid to promote it favourably.

Ditsy Glamour

As part of my search for tops that fit and flatter a larger bust, without sacrificing on defining my waist, I was keen to retry the Glamorosa tunic from this post and go for my correct size - a 20 tunic and Very Voluptuous (H - K+).

I love the print of this tunic - the rich tones mean it is ideal for the whole year (if you change your tones throughout the year, I just wear what I want and throw on a cardigan!).

The tunic comes with a sweet ribbon to tie around the waist. This is an interesting touch, but I felt when I tied it, that it looked as though I'd grabbed something, anything to tie around my middle to give me some shape!

I have worn this tunic a number of times, both without the ribbon, and with my own addition
(can you guess which is mine?!)

What I love about this tunic is you don't have to think about wearing it - I don't need to add a belt, I don't need to add jewelry, or team it with a bright cardigan if I don't want to. Don't get me wrong, I do! But it is nice to have multi functional items in my wardrobe!

However, I do have to be careful of my bra choices with this one:

2 Shades of Grey

Wednesday...

I was unduly worried about my hospital appointment - and wanted to make sure I came across as together, and intelligent.
Almost like speed dating!

The outfit had to allow for easy access to the stomach area, so I needed a legging / jean combination. I also wanted something to keep my spirits up!

My appointment went well, I am now on the waiting list for an investigative procedure with a possible opportunity to divide the scar tissue if possible.

To 'celebrate' this, I napped. Hard. So the photographs were taken post nap. This explains the hair! I promise!

I paired it with my trusty ASDA George blazer (2 Shades of Grey!) and off I went!

Looking at this photo, it looks a little 'soft focus' for my liking, but I wanted to share because of my eyeliner.

I an a fan of a 'flick', and usually go for a pencil. I recently tried a gel eye liner, but found this wasn't accurate enough for me. I wanted to give the gel another shot, but the brush applicator had dried hard. Booo hiss.

I them thought I would use the pencil to get the precision, with the black black of the gel. Voila! I'm a fan now!

Also, my lips are loving my No7 double applicator Stay Perfect Lip Lacquer in Flamenco Red. Swooooon

The 'main prize' is this notebook and nail kit combination:

Glamorosa Review

Ah, the simple things in life!

Sometimes you just want to curl up under the covers. Some days you want to take on the world. This is my 'take on the world' outfit. It is this tunic:

I learnt my lesson from this post: http://misskathrynsmisstakes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/glamorosa-schoolgirl-error.html and sized down to a 20, and with my 36HH, I went for the Very Voluptuous.

Unlike most tops with a deep V neck, I didn't find it revealing, or anything other than flattering.

See, no crease or cleavage visible there!

Or here!

I love how perfectly placed the tie back belt sits on my natural waist, not on my empire line, so it allowed the rest of the material to fall naturally over my hips and rear.

As you can see, a very flattering silhouette!

I teamed it with my Angel Ribbon skinny jeans in black, but once I get my hands on some smart cigarette trousers I'll be definitely pairing the two together!

To give my outfit extra sparkle, I've worn my Tatty Devine Ruby Slippers Necklace!

This top was gifted to me, but all views and opinions are my very own and I have not been paid to promote it favourably.

Heads Up

Morning!

Or at least it was when I started to write this. It seems my days are filled with half completed texts / tweets and now it seems an barely started blog post.

It's not through want to trying. The window has been open since, oh, I don't know, about 9:30 this morning? So the first line seemed rather apt, but it's now 19:59 and I'm trying to fight the white screen!

I actually have something worth while to write! I have photos taken and everything, but first I need to get some thoughts out of my head before I can start with that.

So, what is new with you my lovely bloggites? I'm signed off again for hopefully 2 weeks (waiting for the note to be written as we speak). A mire of wanting to keep busy, have a purpose and at the same time 'get better' (a great little misnomer as I'll not 'get better'), without 'over doing it'. I want to get ready every day. I want to get my hair and face presentable, even if all I then do is crawl back into bed and sleep the day away.

I have a surgical referral a week today, and I won't lie, I have high hopes for what they'll offer me. If they won't offer me an answer, I don't quite know what I'll do then.

In the mean time, I'll be spending most of my time sat in front of the white screen. I have three posts in my head waiting to be written, with the odd few personal posts thrown in.

Whirl wind affair this blogging lark isn't it.

Much love my lovelies,

K x
